About This Piece
Warm, flowing, and impossible to rush. This adaptation of the well-known poem “Leisure” argues that slowing down to look around is why we are here. Lush and lyrical, and a gorgeous curtain-raiser for school and community choirs.

What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stop and stare? No time to stand beneath the boughs Or linger in the idle hours. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where sparrows flit through tree and grass. No time to see in broad daylight, Like streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, And see her feet, oh how they dance. No time to see her smile arise And match the wonder in her eyes. Poor is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stop and stare.
